Jesus’ baptism by John in the Jordan River was not for repentance, as He was sinless, but served to fulfill all righteousness and establish His public ministry to usher in the kingdom of heaven. At this moment, the Spirit descended upon Him, and God declared Him His “beloved Son”, signaling divine approval and the start of a new creation. In this event, initiating the New Covenant, God establishes a transformative relationship with humanity, offering forgiveness, grace, and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit.
